Rehabilitation Equipment

These items have been discovered by this clinic to be the most cost-effective and space-saving way of setting up your own rehabilitation at home. Rather than spending hundreds or even thousands of pounds on bulky equipment or gym sessions, a custom rehabilitation program can be built up over time, and as you improve, using the items below with your own exercise program. The cost of these items is constantly reviewed to give you the best possible deal. If you have found something cheaper then check with your chiropractor before purchasing as it may be of an inferior quality or you may have found a better product that your chiropractor can take up! Your exercises have been designed and tested with the products below:

The Gym-ball

This is a blow up ball. It is important to buy the correct size for your height and the exercises prescribed for you by your chiropractor. The ball can be left blown up and used as a seat or taken down and put away after use. There are two sorts, the usual one for exercises is the anti-burst, which means the ball won’t suddenly go down if punctured. This version is less robust and should be kept indoors and away from rough children and animals. The other sort can go down quickly with a serious puncture but is much stronger. These are sometimes a little cheaper but prices vary with time.

The Flex-bands

These are rubbery bands about 10 cm wide of varying lengths and strengths. The stretchiness provides the resistance for numerous exercises. They can be used with other equipment, such as the gym-ball and roller, or on their own. Optional handles can increase comfort for sore hands.

Tubing

This is similar to the bands but is round tubing instead of flat bands.

The Roller

This is a blow up cylinder on which you lie vertically to open up the front of the body. There are a number of exercises using this.

The Shoulder Pulley

This is for passive exercise of the shoulders, where you need to increase the movement without activating the muscles. For example, to help a ‘frozen shoulder’, or after a shoulder injury.

The Gyro

This is a hand held globe gyroscope which can be spun to help co-ordination and strength of the upper body, especially good for rehab of carpal tunnel sufferers, or as a preventative for those using a computer all day. Fun too, at Xmas or parties!

The Active Sitting Cushion (Round or slope)

This is very much as all-rounder:

You could even chuck it around, like a chunky Frisbee!

The Wobble Board (Hard Plastic)

This can be used for exercises as a wobble board to stand on and also as a footstool.

The Lateral Wobble Board (Hard Plastic)

This wobbles side-to-side but not front-to-back. It makes an excellent ski-trainer.

Stepping ‘Stones’

These are a set of wobbly plastic steps that can be placed in various positions and walked along to enhance balance. Especially good fun for kids!
